Over the summer, West Ham United were trying to sign a new defender following the injury to Nayef Aguerd, and decided to lump some money on Thilo Kehrer.

The German centre-back was then at Paris Saint-Germain, and he immediately went into David Moyes’ line up starting every game in the Premier League up until the end of December, when he was placed on the bench for the game against Brentford.

He returned for West Ham’s draw against Leeds, but then went back to his seat on the sidelines, watching the Hammers lose to Wolves and then beat Everton.

That is partly due to the return of Aguerd, who most recently lined up next to Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma at the heart of a back five.

That suggests Kehrer has dropped down the pecking order a bit, and that’s something Inter in Italy could be looking to take advantage of.

This comes at a time when Paris Saint-Germain are trying to buy Milan Skriniar, meaning the Serie A side will need a replacement, and Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy claim Kehrer is one of the options they are looking at in case the Slovakian does leave.

They recall the German was previously offered by the Ligue 1 side in the summer, before he signed for West Ham, to try and convince Inter to sell then, and now point out that his time under Moyes ‘is not constant and nor is his performance’.

That’s why he is a ‘track to take into consideration’ for the Italians, and his name ‘has been mentioned at Inter in the last few hours’.

The dossier’s ‘evolution must be followed’, although it would be surprising to see West Ham part ways with a player in January just six months after they agreed to pay €12m to sign him.
