On Thursday, we covered an article in Gazzetta dello Sport reporting on the interest Genoa have in Celtic’s Gustaf Lagerbielke, who is on the periphery of Brendan Rodgers’ plans at Parkhead.

However, as had been previously reported, they are not the only club who have taken an interest in the Swede, with Lecce also keen on him.

Unlike Genoa, they haven’t sold a star defender for €30m, so their finances are a bit tighter when it comes to convincing Celtic, which is what Gazzetta dello Sport focus on on Friday.

They explain that the centre-back ‘remains in the sights’ of the Italian club, but the asking price from Celtic is seen as ‘expensive’.

That’s why their director Pantaleo Corvino is trying to work on the basis of a loan deal, which has yet proven to be the way forward with Brendan Rodgers and those above him.

After all, Atlético Madrid tried for Matt O’Riley on a loan with an option to buy, but that didn’t sit well with Celtic, who refused it.

With Lagerbielke a bit less important than the Denmark international, they may be a bit more lenient, but it will all depend on the package put forward by Lecce.
