It seems Chelsea could be moving forward to sign Pedro Lima from Sport Recife.
Following the recent links between the Blues and the 17-year-old, outlet Globo Esporte now brings some interesting updates on the player’s situation.
They start by claiming that Sport Recife already have ‘official offers’ for his transfer in hand, and one of the clubs who are interested in him is Chelsea.
Now what makes the story more exciting is that club president Yuri Romão has reportedly flown to London on Monday.
The Brazilian club confirmed that information, but did not reveal why their chief went to the English capital.
João Marcelo Barros, who’s a member of Sport’s football management committee, told Globo Esporte: “We’re not going to comment on proposals from specific clubs. But I can confirm that there are offers for the player.”
Globo Esporte point out that Renato Guimarães, the player’s agent, also posted on social media a picture of him flying to Europe.
It’s been a few weeks since Pedro Lima started being linked to European clubs. Besides Chelsea, the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and Juventus were said to be keen on his signing as well. He’s protected by a €12m release clause, and it’s very interesting to see all those clubs chasing a player from the Brazilian second division.
