For the past few weeks, the idea that Chelsea could sign Stanislav Lobotka has been talked about in Italy.
This comes after the Blues came close to signing the Slovakia international in the summer, but Napoli managed to hold onto him, to their great joy.
The midfielder has been one of their stars this season, providing great balance to Luciano Spalletti’s side in all competitions, which is what Chelsea will have wanted him for in their team.
Now, the Serie A side are trying to renew their man, and while nothing has been agreed upon yet, the belief is he will sign, and could earn as much as he would have done at Stamford Bridge.
That’s according to Ciro Venerato, who spoke about the situation to TV Luna, claiming Napoli were now close to match what Chelsea had promised him.
He said, relayed by Area Napoli: “Stanislav Lobotka will renew his contract with Napoli within a month. The new agreement will be until 2027, with an option until 2028. He will receive a salary of €2.5m/year, but the bonuses will make the difference.
“€300k are already guaranteed, they will start after a few appearances. The salary can rise up to €3.5m/year, which is what Chelsea had promised him some time ago.”
Therefore, with Napoli in fine form and Chelsea still finding themselves after all the changes in recent months, it appears the player has decided to stay put for the time being.
