Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot joined AC Milan on a dry loan deal in the final stretch of the last window and has had a mixed start to the season in Italy.

Stefano Pioli has largely used the fullback in the Europa League. The Red Devils owned player has repaid his manager’s faith by putting in fine displays and also contributing with a goal and two assists.

However, the 21-year-old was not given opportunities in the league and has only played for 19 minutes in Serie A.

The Rossoneri will have to negotiate a deal with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side if they wish to take the Portuguese defender on a permanent transfer.

On December 11th, we relayed news from Italy that the ‘next few weeks will be crucial’ for Dalot to ‘convince’ Pioli.

Calciomercato now state Milan’s leaders feel they are only seeing the beginning of the versatile defender’s development and they believe he ‘can do great things’ in the second half of this campaign.

Pioli’s side are ‘enthusiastic’ about Dalot and have a plan for him.

It’s claimed Milan’s ‘idea for the future is clear’ when it comes to the United man, and that’s to ‘negotiate’ later with the Premier League side, ‘without rushing’ and not setting any valuations as of now.

Calciomercato’s report would indicate that Dalot has convinced both Piolo and Milan’s leaders, and now they will have to decide when to ‘negotiate’ with Manchester United to extend his stay beyond this season.
