Bayern Munich ‘can well imagine’ selling Marcel Sabitzer to Manchester United this summer if his loan spell continues to be successful.
That’s according to Sport 1, who cover comments from the player’s agent Roger Wittmann today as the Austrian midfielder earns rave reviews under Erik ten Hag.
Sabitzer was a late arrival on loan from Bayern Munich at the end of the January transfer window, with Manchester United moving quickly to secure his signature after Christian Eriksen was ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.
He’s been immediately thrown in Ten Hag’s team and impressed, putting in solid performances against Leeds United and Leicester City.
The loan deal does not include a purchase clause for Manchester United at this moment in time but several reports have made it clear that Bayern Munich would be more than open to a sale.
Indeed, BILD journalist Christian Falk recently claimed that the German giants are monitoring his displays before seeing how much they can get in a potential deal.
Sport 1 confirm they’re open to a sale, stating that Bayern bosses ‘can well imagine a Sabitzer sale’ in the summer if the opportunity is there.
They, though, are likely to want more than the €15m they paid RB Leipzig for the midfielder, and that ‘shouldn’t be enough’.
That tallies with Falk’s report, with him claiming a fee of €20m.
Whether a deal happens remains to be seen and will be dependent on Sabitzer’s performances, but his agent believes his client will demonstrate his ability in the coming months.
“Marcel is a top player. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s performing so well so quickly,” he said.
“If you have as much experience as Marcel, whether in the Champions League or with his more than 60 international matches, it doesn’t take long to find your way around a club and a league like this.
“He loves this English hardness! It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him. He’s an aggressive player. He does exactly what he can there. And that’s what’s needed there.
“At Manchester United we see Marcel from Leipzig again. I’m very happy for him. We’ll see when the time comes (about a move).”
