Millonarios FC are in talks with Watford to sign central defender Jorge Segura on loan for a year.

The Colombian side are short on centre back options, with coach Alberto Gamero keen to add in the position after being forced to use inexperienced youngster Breiner Paz.

Watford centre back Segura is the man they have targeted according to Diario del Cauca and talks are firmly underway about a deal.

Diario report that Millonarios’ directors have been ‘accelerating’ negotiations with the player so that he will arrive in Bogotá this week and sign a one-year loan deal at the club.

The Colombian side have been talking to the player and his representative for weeks, but there are still details that need to be finalised, presumably with Watford, before a deal can be completed.

Segura joined the Hornets from Envigado in 2017 but has never made an appearance for the club, instead spending the last two years away from Vicarage Road on various loan deals.

He spent 2019 on loan at Mexican side Atlas, but that deal ended on December 31st, and he now looks set to return to his native Colombia instead.
