Grasshopper Zurich’s stand in president András Gurovits has insisted Wolverhampton Wanderers have not “turned off the transfer tap” as there wasn’t one to begin with.
The Swiss giants were rocked by the news that president Sky Sun had stepped down from his role at the club earlier this week due to personal reasons.
Gurovits has been placed in temporary charge as a result, with doubts now remaining about the future of the club under their current owners.
The club were bought by Jenny Wang in 2020, wife of Wolves owner and Fosun Group chief Guo Guanchang.
That had led to the Swiss side being something of an unofficial feeder club in the two years since, with numerous transfers back and forth between the two sides.
Indeed, this season Renat Dadashov made the move from Wolves to Grasshoppers, while the likes of Leo Bonatini, Sang-bin Jeong and Bruno Jordao all returned to Molineux from their own spells there last season.
More deals had been expected before the end of the Super League transfer window but that has not happened and when questioned on it, Gurovits insisted there is nothing amiss.
“Wolves can’t cut us off because we don’t belong to them,” he told Nau.
“The transfer policy is made within the group. The decision was made that the squad is strong enough to achieve the season’s goals.”
