RB Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell has left his position at RB Leipzig, just a week after being linked with a move to Chelsea.
The German club revealed today that the technical director has been ‘dismissed from his role’ due to ‘contrasting views’ with those in charge at the club.
His duties are set to folded into the existing set up at the club until Max Eberl arrives at the club in the near future.
It leaves Vivell free to move wherever he would like, which will come as interesting news to Chelsea given their recent interest in him.
A week ago, we covered a report from Sport Italia that they were trying to lure Vivell to Stamford Bridge after failing to get RB Salzburg’s Christoph Freund.
It was explained that Todd Boehly was using an intermediate for those negotiations and that agent was then being used to probe Vivell about the position.
The plan was to secure the 35-year-old as the man to lead Chelsea’s scouting department but there was no mention of whether they had been successful.
He’s now been removed from his position at Leipzig, though, leaving the Blues free to get him should they still want him.
