Werder Bremen are targeting a move for Manchester City’s Issa Kaboré and staying in the race until the end of the window.
That’s according to BILD, who back up reports from England that Bremen are keen on the right-back.
The newspaper reports that Werder want to bring in Kaboré before the end of the transfer window as they plan a late addition to their squad.
They’ve been given encouragement by Manchester City, who have no plans for the Burkina Faso international at this moment in time.
He spent last season out on loan with Luton Town, the latest in a series for him after similar spells with KV Mechelen, ESTAC Troyes and Marseille.
Werder want him to reinforce their options on the wings, but it is unclear whether they would be able to convince him into the move. They face competition from Augsburg, Reims and Venice.
Kaboré’s current contract with Manchester City runs until 2025 but Pep Guardiola’s side are open to a sale or a loan deal. If it were the latter, they’d want the player to sign a contract extension first.
Either way, Werder plan to stay in the ‘hot poker game’ until the last minute and have received encouragement from Manchester City too.
