Over the past few days, thanks to the input of the English media, Crystal Palace have been linked with a young player called Armel Bella-Kotchap.

The defender, who has apparently caught the eye of other and perhaps more influential Premier League clubs, currently plays for VfL Bochum in the 2. Bundesliga, and has only started breaking into the first-team this season.

With 12 second-tier appearances to his name during the 2019-20 campaign, his chance to prove himself has been limited, but he has apparently done enough to impress scouts from various clubs across England, including Roy Hodgson’s staff.

However, thanks to information from RevierSport in Germany, we now know that there is still ‘no concrete offer for the player’.

That means Crystal Palace have yet to make their interest official to Bochum, and yet it wouldn’t cost much, at least for a club of the Eagles’ Premier League wealth, to convince the 2. Bundesliga side to part ways with their starlet.

The local website state that with a transfer fee of ‘€5m + X’, which we’re guessing means some bonuses, landing on their desk, ‘VfL would certainly be ready to talk’.

That’s certainly not a lot of money for a talented centre-back, and with Crystal Palace’s backline hardly the youngest, it could be worth a punt.
