Two days ago, we covered claims from Mundo Deportivo explaining that it’s ‘key week’ for Barcelona in signing Eric García.
It was also stated the Catalan club will contact Manchester City in the ‘next few days’.
AS now brings the latest update and they explain the La Liga side have already made an ‘official proposal’ for the defender, through their CEO Òscar Grau.
It’s claimed the Blaugrana have made an offer of €10m for the centre-back, who is in his final year of contract at Etihad and has decided against signing an extension.
Pep Guardiola’s side, however, are asking for a fee between €15m and €18m, which is lower than the €25m demanded earlier.
The talks between the two clubs have excited the 19-year-old. His desire is to return to Barcelona, three years after he left them for the Citizens, and City chiefs Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain are aware of it.
For now, the Spain international is between €5m and €8m away from joining Ronald Koeman’s side. Should Barca raise the offer a bit and take it to €15-18m, then they will ‘satisfy the player’s desire to return home’.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona will improve their offer or if City will lower their demands for García.
