Naby Keïta’s only appearance for Liverpool this season came in their Community Shield win over Manchester City in July.

The Guinea international has been forced to spend time away from the pitch due to multiple injuries. With a contract expiring next June, his future at Anfield remains uncertain.

Calciomercato.it state AC Milan are carefully monitoring the 27-year-old’s situation since he will not sign a new deal at Liverpool.

This means the Serie A winners could take him for free next summer but there could be obstacles for them to secure his services.

The midfielder currently earns €7m net per year and matching this would be expensive for Milan. In addition, Keïta has struggled with form and fitness and has missed 60 games for Liverpool since the start of 2020.

Although the player’s cycle at the Merseyside club seems to have come to an end, the two ‘problems’ mentioned above have made Milan reflect on whether to consider signing him.

Keïta, meanwhile, will be hoping to stay fit to get regular playing time in the second half of this season to attract other clubs.
