Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Álex Valle’s performances on loan at Celtic this season as he continues to impress.
That’s according to Sport, who say those in charge at Barcelona are ‘observing’ the player and the development he’s enjoying this season.
The 20-year-old joined Celtic on loan from Barcelona in the summer and has been a regular for Celtic this season, with four appearances in the league, two in the Champions League and two in the league cup.
The loan spell is working out exactly as Barcelona had hoped and the Catalans have taken notice of his gradual improvement.
They have Alejandro Balde as their first choice but little options behind him are limited and Valle’s growing importance at Celtic has got them thinking he could be an option.
They are carrying out ‘exhaustive monitoring’ of the full-back and the ‘good level’ he’s been showing bit by bit under Brendan Rodgers.
Barcelona had only let him going as his departure was necessary to help them be compliant with fair play but they’re clearly happy with how things are going for him in Scotland.
Whether that means he’s now in their plans moving forwards remains to be seen but they’ll be watching him at Celtic, nonetheless.
