Las Palmas may end up cancelling their pre-season clash with Liverpool as the Reds consider using the U23s and playing the game at Melwood.
That’s according to Canarias 7, who say the Spanish side would not accept being treated in such a way by Liverpool and could change their plans entirely.
They explain that Las Palmas are continuing to train ahead of the new season and seemed to have finalised an agreement with Liverpool for them to be their big, luxury pre-season game.
Both sides were in advanced negotiations over the game, which would have been a ‘historic match’ for the Spanish side.
However, the latest information in England has indicated Liverpool are thinking of using their U23 squad for the game and not playing it at Anfield but at Melwood, their training ground, instead.
Las Palmas would not be willing to accept such conditions and would instead cancel the trip to England and look for another game to close their pre-season schedule.
They’ve already faced Inter Milan this summer and they used some of their biggest players in that game so Liverpool using their U23’s would be seen as something of an insult and pointless for Luis Carrión’s team.
