Tottenham‘s Manor Solomon ended the season well with Fiorentina. His future remains uncertain and everything depends on the London club.
The winger played a role in helping La Viola seal a decent mid-table finish. When he joined, the threat of relegation was serious and Solomon’s contributions played a part in the escape.
He scored two goals and assisted once. After returning for an injury lay-off, he assisted a big goal against Juventus.
Sport Witness have covered how Fiorentina initially had doubts about Solomon’s fitness. This was leading them to be against a permanent deal. That stance has now changed but the concerns are much different.
Wait ongoing for Tottenham
Today’s Corriere dello Sport clarifies that Fiorentina have an option to buy worth €10m in Solomon’s loan deal. Despite his performances, they don’t feel he is worth that much.
That is why they are seeking a discount. They are open to discussions with Tottenham and the ball is now firmly in the London club’s court. If they open up for a discount, Fiorentina could be keen.
Otherwise, other attacking options are being explored already. Sassuolo’s Cristian Volpato is amongst those, with new manager Fabio Grosso having worked with him last season.
Armand Lauriente is also seen as a target. He was close to ending up at Sunderland last season but he could yet reunite with Grosso at Fiorentina. This would end Tottenham’s hopes of selling Solomon to the Florence club.
Our take: Spurs should initiate discussions
Tottenham signed Solomon on a free transfer and anything they earn from his sale will go down as a capital profit.
His current deal runs out in 2028, which means another loan will only impact his value. This leaves 2026 as the best chance to sell him.
