With a contract expiring in June 2022, Edinson Cavani has become a highly wanted man on the transfer market.

He still has plenty of goals in his locker, and with Cristiano Ronaldo now stealing his spotlight, the belief is the Uruguayan will look to leave Old Trafford sooner rather than later.

Whether he does so in January will probably depend on the offers he and Manchester United receive, but Barcelona could certainly be a club he ends up at.

They have been touted as likely suitors for the striker, and now El Chiringuito reveal that the La Liga side ‘have called’ Cavani’s brother, who is also his representative, in order to ‘know about his situation’.

That’s all Josep Pedrerol has to say on the matter, but it’s a sign of intent from Barcelona, who are in the process of doing their utmost to give Xavi the tools to succeed.

Getting Cavani in January would likely require a small expenditure, since he’ll still have six months left on his Old Trafford contract, but he would certainly be one of the cheaper options on the market if you don’t take into account his wages…

One to keep an eye on.
