Earlier this week, Estadio Deportivo reported Sevilla have rejected Aston Villa’s initial offer for Marcos Acuña. Monchi, who stepped down from his position at the La Liga side as the sporting director to join the Villans this summer, is leading their pursuit of the left-back.
On Thursday, Mucho Deporte stated Unai Emery’s side illegally approached the 31-year-old and the Spanish club are considering reporting them to the relevant authorities.
This is relayed in today’s ABC Sevilla, who further add the Europa League winners have the evidence of Aston Villa approaching the defender without their authorisation.
Despite this, the report states Sevilla don’t rule out selling the Argentina international, as long as they receive a new bid.
Sevilla have rejected the Premier League side’s initial offer of €5m plus €2m bonuses.
ABC Sevilla state the Andalusian club have ‘asked for double’ and that Aston Villa are working to make another offer to satisfy their demands.
Should they table a new bid, the newspaper states Sevilla would ‘bury the hatchet with Monchi’ and sanction the player’s sale to Aston Villa.
They have also already identified a replacement for Acuña, who’s motivated to join the English club.
