Bryan Gil did not get the prominence he needed at Tottenham Hotspur after he returned from a loan spell at Valencia last summer.
In January, the attacking midfielder returned to Sevilla on a loan deal until the end of this season.
The Tottenham owned player scored in the La Liga side’s 2-0 win over RCD Mallorca on Saturday. A day later, he expressed his joy over securing a temporary exit from the north London club.
Sevilla signed three players on loan in the winter market and ABC de Sevilla took a look at their futures at the Andalusian club beyond this season.
Gil’s case remains the most complicated one since Sevilla have no option to make his stay permanent and Tottenham appear to be a ‘very tough negotiator’.
Spurs offered €25m plus Érik Lamela to Sevilla in signing the Spain international in 2021. Even though Gil didn’t get regular opportunities at Tottenham, ABC state he has ‘become more mature, made for the elite, dizzying and poignant’.
Therefore, Antonio Conte’s side will not let him leave for ‘anything’, especially since the Spaniard has a contract until 2026.
Gil’s desire and wish to continue at Sevilla are ‘practically the only and great asset’ of Jorge Sampaoli’s side to retain him beyond this season.
In other words, if the player doesn’t push for a move, Sevilla may not stand a chance to keep him next season.
