Almería are interested in Birmingham City midfielder Fran Villalba and could make a move for him this month.

That’s according to La Voz de Almería, who say the Segunda División side have identified the Birmingham man as a potential signing.

According to the website, ‘everything can happen’ at the club in this winter window, and that includes the arrival of new players.

Villalba is one player they have ‘set their sights on’ and their ‘intention’ is to sign him in a full transfer.

Indeed, it is stated clearly that the club are not even considering a loan deal with an option to buy at this point.

How much they would be willing to pay for the 21-year-old, who joined Birmingham from Valencia in August last year and has 17 appearances in all competitions this season, isn’t mentioned.

Whether Birmingham are willing to sell isn’t made clear either, but the interest from Almería certainly exists.

According to La Voz, that means it will be ‘necessary’ to keep an eye on them up until deadline day with a move seemingly in the offing.
