On September 29th, AS reported Real Madrid are planning to sign Manchester City’s João Cancelo and Erling Haaland in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
The same newspaper on Thursday state it is ‘feasible’ for the La Liga winners to sign both the striker and Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé in 2024.
Pep Guardiola has stressed the Norway international has no release clause inserted in his deal. Despite this, AS insist his buyout clause is set at €180m, which will come into effect from the summer of 2024.
They also explain Haaland was ‘waiting’ for Real before saying yes to Manchester City, but the frontman picked the Premier League winners over Carlo Ancelotti’s side because they were waiting for Mbappé, and also had to compete with Karim Benzema at the Bernabéu.
Manchester City invested €60m in signing Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and this was possible because Mino Raiola had included a clause in his BVB contract.
The super-agent passed away earlier this year, but AS state he outlined the entire negotiations with the English champions.
In other words, a clause has been inserted in Haaland’s contract at the Etihad and he will have the possibility to choose again in two years time.
Real Madrid are likely to be an option then for the Manchester City star and they find it ‘feasible’ to sign him in 2024.
