Napoli have reportedly reached a deal to sign Hector Herrera from Porto, but the Portuguese side will wait until Wednesday to seal the transfer as they await better offers from other clubs.
The original report is from Radio Crc, and as a response, both the Italian and the Portuguese press treat this deadline as a warning for Liverpool. The Reds were the other club who were said to be in the race for the player, so they have now a few days to make an offer.
Radio Crc says the deal should cost Napoli €21m, being €18m paid up front and the other €3m depending on performance bonuses. The player has a €40m release clause.
Liverpool’s name has always been dragged into the Herrera stories, but the papers have never mentioned advanced talks for the player with the Merseyside club.
Of course Porto are right to try and wait for the best offer, but we reckon it’s unlikely to come from Liverpool, because they don’t seem hugely interested.
