Barcelona will study the option of signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United next summer and aren’t interested in a move in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Blaugrana club is ‘informed of his situation’ but not intending to move for him at this moment in time.
The newspaper explains that Barcelona are one of several European clubs to have been made aware that Sancho is likely to be available in the next window after his very public falling out with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.
They have been contacted by the player’s entourage but are unable to move in January unless there is an unexpected departure, which for now seems unlikely.
Thus, their interest in him would be from June onwards next year, with Manchester United’s current plan being to send him on loan in January to revalue himself and then sell in the summer.
Barcelona will be ‘attentive’ if that is the case, but Sancho would have to reduce his wages significantly if they were to be able to bring him in.
The Catalans appreciate his ability, though, and believe he would be an interesting player to add to their offensive line if they could. He would also be a potential replacement for Ansu Fati if he is sold as expected.
Any move would have to be ‘financially viable’ for them, though, and that’s not the case when it comes to a potential loan deal in January.
