Bayern Munich’s recent meeting with Tottenham’s Daniel Levy was an attempt to flatter him and rebuild the relationship between the two clubs as the Germans push to sign Harry Kane.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who cover the meeting today and explain what the reasoning behind it was.
They report that, according to their information, ‘a few managers’ from Bayern met Levy in London to discuss Kane and the ongoing negotiations for him.
There is still no agreement between the two clubs but that was not necessarily the aim of the meeting between them, and it was not ‘expected’ either.
Kane was informed about the meeting taking place between the two clubs, although his focus is currently on pre-season training with Spurs.
He remains Bayern’s ‘preferred candidate’ for the centre forward position but so far Bayern’s efforts, including a second bid of €80m plus bonus payments, have been rejected.
Tottenham are yet to make any move to suggest they will accept an offer and ‘negotiations continue’ between the relevant parties.
That was not the intention of this latest meeting, though, which was instead a planned attempt by Bayern to charm and flatter Daniel Levy and ensure he is shown the respect they believe will be needed to get Kane.
