Sevilla have been left annoyed by false reports linking them with Aston Villa’s Diego Carlos this summer, as it’s given fans ‘false hope’ of a reunion.
That’s according to AS, who say that the Spanish side ‘do not understand’ the reports or the uncertainty it’s been generating online when it is impossible for it to happen.
The newspaper states, clearly, that Diego Carlos is not going to return to Sevilla from Aston Villa this summer as it is impossible for the defender to make the move.
No matter how much he may want to leave Aston Villa or even if a departure is in the work, the idea is completely off of the cards.
They’ve been left frustrated by the player seemingly playing games online, answering Sevilla fans and leaving an ‘aura of mystery’ about a potential return because they know it is nothing more than a game.
They don’t like what’s been going on as they know a deal would never happen given his salary at Aston Villa is three times higher than what he received at Sevilla. They couldn’t afford that or the fee that he would command, not even remotely.
Thus, they don’t like the fact his actions have given ‘false hope’ to their fans, particularly as it could end up turning against them.
Director of football Victor Orta already feels as if he is swimming against the tide to change the views on him after the ‘fiascos’ of last year and while he’s earned credit, he knows there is still work to be done to win fans over.
So, giving fans false hope of a player like Carlos returning, with is impossible, is not something he can get on board with.
