Fiorentina announcing the signing of Carlos Sanchez from Aston Villa isn’t a surprise because the deal has been reported as close for a while.

The Florence club have announced, via an official statement, that Sanchez is joining them on a temporary basis. There’s no mention of a cost for the move, or of any clauses which would make a permanent transfer automatic.

It is eyebrow raising, and a fortunate move for Sanchez, given he wasn’t able to have a big impact for Aston Villa last season, as the Birmingham club faced Premier League relegation.

Fiorentina finished 5th in Serie last season, they’re a grand club of Italian football, and Carlos Sanchez will get the chance to live in Florence. Sometimes life really isn’t fair.

Fiorentina weren’t confident enough to sign the Colombian international on a permanent basis, and Aston Villa will hope he does well enough to attract a transfer fee in the future. But not too well, he can’t fall on his feet that much!
