About a month ago, Goal Brasil revealed that Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United were both interested in Corinthians youngster Pedrinho.
At the time, Seagulls and Magpies were named in the race for the 17-year-old, whose release clause was of €50m.
Now Goal Brasil is back with a new story to say Pedrinho is close to signing a new contract with Corinthians. He’s extending his deal until 2026, and should have his release clause raised to €70m.
Brighton and Newcastle are again mentioned, this time in a list of interested clubs which includes Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, PSV and Zenit. It’s said all those clubs ‘closely follow’ the teenager.
The report claims that Corinthians will be ‘already waiting’ for offers in the summer window, even though it isn’t said how much the Brazilian side will demand to sell him this year.
Pedrinho only has two appearances for the first team, and that means Brighton and Newcastle probably started their chase when he was still at the academy.
According to Goal, he’s been impressing the senior players in training, and should soon be getting more chances to feature for the club.
