Following The Chronicle’s claims that Matz Sels, Aleksandr Mitrovic and Chancel Mbemba will be allowed to leave the club in the summer, the Belgian press have got a bit excited.

Naturally, articles surrounding moves to Anderlecht have already emerged, especially considering the goalkeeper is already there on loan, where he’s enjoying a good second half of the season.

The Serbia international, down his end, is enjoying life at Fulham, scoring aplenty, and could end up being too expensive for the Belgium side who, while under new ownership, won’t be going around spending £10m+ on players in the summer.

With Sels’ future still a question mark, that leaves Chancel Mbemba as the most reasonable target, and Walfoot in Belgium believe that’s a distinct possibility.

In fact, the website claim Anderlecht have ‘already shown interest’ regarding the DR Congo international’s return, a move the club’s fans would be delighted with as he was a favourite during his first spell with the club between 2012 and 2015.

Considering how little Mbemba has featured this season under Rafa Benitez, it wouldn’t be surprising if Newcastle, while not letting him go for peanuts, facilitated an exit in the summer for the 23-year-old.
