In the winter transfer market, Manchester United allowed Facundo Pellistri to join Deportivo Alavés on loan for the remainder of the season, months after buying him from Peñarol.

The winger moved to Spain, trying to accumulate more minutes which weren’t made available to him at Old Trafford.

Pellistri has played in 11 league matches and can make two more La Liga appearances before the end of this season.

According to Calciomercato.it, the 19-year-old is expected to spend next season on loan at Alavés.

It’s claimed the Spanish side and the Red Devils ‘have almost defined the agreement’ to extend the Uruguayan’s temporary stay with Javier Calleja’s side until the end of the next campaign.

The Manchester United owned player’s chances of extending his stay at Alavés will depend on them avoiding relegation.

Alavés are 16th in the table with 35 points and are four points ahead of 18th placed Real Valladolid. In the event they drop to the second division, Pellistri will return to United and then evaluate other options for the summer.
