Sporting and Manchester City have been negotiating the final details for the permanent transfer of Pedro Porro, according to reports from Portugal.
Newspaper Record writes that following the fullback’s loan spell at the Lisbon side, the Liga NOS side now working to use their buy option and sign him on a €8.5m deal.
It’s claimed that last week, prior to the second leg of the Champions League round-of-16, there was a lunch at Pep Guardiola’s restaurant Tast Catala with the presence of Ferran Soriano, Txiki Begiristain, Frederico Varandas and Hugo Viana.
Among the many subjects discussed was Porro’s transfer, with the clubs ‘accelerating the process’.
Now Record claims that given Porro’s evolution, Manchester City are trying to include a buy-back option in the deal. That would be for €20m. It’s said Sporting like that, especially because that will help them to convince him to sign a contract with them until 2025.
It’s said the fullback, who was never used by Pep Guardiola at the Premier League side, knows he’s not in the manager’s plans, and is happy to stay in Lisbon.
The newspaper says the transfer could be concluded before the end of the month.
