Towards the end of the summer transfer window, Leeds United were repeatedly linked with a move for SC Freiburg’s Roland Sallai.
There was talk of approaches and offers from the Championship club, and the German side were quite keen on getting a deal over the line.
The reasoning behind that is Sallai’s Freiburg contract has less than a year left to run, so they were quickly running out of chances to make some money from the player.
However, as deadline day appeared, it was reported the move to Leeds United wouldn’t be happening. There was disagreement on why that was, with some claims stating the Whites €9m approach wasn’t considered high enough, and others saying it was down to the will of the player.
Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports Galatasaray are ‘about to reach an agreement’ with Freiburg to sign the player, and now they need to rush to get a deal over the line.
Sallai himself would be given a four year contract, and the 27-year-old would then almost certainly be off Leeds United’s agenda for a future window.
