Jadon Sancho is unlikely to get his return to Borussia Dortmund this summer once he leaves Aston Villa.
BILD Ruhr-Ost report that Dortmund are now distancing themselves from bringing their former player back after months of considering the potential deal.
Dortmund walking away
The newspaper explains that Jadon Sancho had been in Dortmund’s eye-line as sporting directors Lars Ricken and Ole Book plan to reshape the squad this summer.
Reports over the last few months had made it clear that they were considering a move for the 26-year-old. He’s set to return to Manchester United at the end of the season following an unsuccessful loan spell at Aston Villa.
But BILD report that the signs are increasingly pointing to the fact that Sancho won’t be returning to the Ruhr region for a third time.
According to the newspaper’s information, the talks have now taken a turn and a transfer is unlikely. There is simply too much uncertainty between Book, Ricken and manager Niko Kovac over the transfer.
They doubt whether Sancho can recapture the top form he displaying during his first spell at Dortmund. His ‘numerous’ disciplinary issues of the past are also causing Dortmund’s management ‘considerable concern’.
Transfer status unclear
It’s also unclear what his transfer status will be this summer when he returns to Manchester United from Aston Villa.
Manchester United are reportedly able to extend his contract at short notice via a clause. There’s also been surprise in Dortmund at reports Sancho wants the move. This apparent desire has not been officially received by Dortmund.
They’re currently walking away from a potential reunion at this moment in time. But there is time for that to change.
BILD state that a ‘dream performance’ from Sancho in the Europa League final could turn the transfer plans around. BVB president and UEFA vice-president Hans-Joachim Watzke is set to be in the stands for the game watching on.
But it would take some performance from the Aston Villa loanee to make that happen. And that’s if he even plays in the game, which is unlikely.
