Having brought in Pierluigi Gollini to provide much needed experienced backup for Hugo Lloris, Fabio Paratici decided it was best to send Alfie Whiteman on loan elsewhere.

The Englishman was dispatched to Sweden, where he played for Degerfors IF, starting in 13 games, conceding 24 goals and keeping one clean sheet.

While those aren’t exactly amazing stats, it seems the Spurs goalkeeper impressed enough, because another club want him, this time in the United States.

That’s according to the player’s agent, Michael Kallbäck, who spoke to Fotboll Direkt in Sweden about the move.

He said: “It will be clear in the next few days. Alfie is in the US now to go on loan to a club there. It will probably be announced shortly”.

Pressed further about which club would be welcoming the Tottenham man, Kallbäck explained he could ‘not say anything about that’, before reiterating all ‘will be clear in the next few days’.

An exciting time for the 23-year-old, who clearly has his path blocked at Spurs and needs game time elsewhere to ensure his development as a footballer doesn’t stagnate.
