On Wednesday, Jorrel Hato’s agent Humphry Nijman confirmed he’s in talks with Chelsea over a move this summer.

A day later, De Telegraaf reported Ajax want a package worth around €55-60m for the defender.

The Netherlands international wasn’t part of the squad in Ajax’s 3-0 friendly loss to Como on Sunday.

Algemeen Dagblad reports the 19-year-old informed the Dutch club he didn’t want to play against Como due to the possibility of joining Chelsea. Ajax accepted his decision, while negotiations have been ongoing with the Blues.

A fresh report from De Telegraaf also points that out and provides more on this case. They claim the left-back’s absence yesterday is a ‘clear indication’ that Ajax expect him to move to Chelsea.

Ajax are optimistic Enzo Maresca’s side will make a second offer to sign Hato, after making a first bid of €40m. The Amsterdam club’s sporting director, Alex Kroes, has requested around €55-60m.

It’s claimed the two clubs are expected to ‘reach an agreement somewhat in the middle’ for €50m, which is considered a ‘fantastic sum’ for Ajax.

There will be clarity in the coming days whether Chelsea will reach this figure, likely with bonuses. Hato hopes to join the West London club and Ajax are expecting to sell him to them.
