This week, Real Betis have moved into the picture to sign Diego Llorente from Leeds United, report ABC Sevilla. The Spanish club want to take advantage of the Whites failure to return to the Premier League to try and get a cheap deal, just like they’ve managed to do with Marc Roca.
Llorente spent last season on loan at AS Roma and there’s been some confusion in the Italian media about whether the Serie A side have a clause to buy him. For a while it was reported they did, with some claims stating it could even be mandatory and cost around €5m.
That later turned into reports of a optional clause, before the clause claims largely disappeared. ABC Sevilla may know the reason for that. They report there is a clause, and use that €5m figure, but say it’s only been agreed verbally.
Quite how that could hold any weight is unknown.
The Spanish newspaper goes on to say Betis need to wait for that clause to expire before they can move forward for the Leeds United player.
When that may happen is unclear.
