According to a claim in the Swedish media, Kalmar have made an approach for Leeds United forward Marcus Antonsson. The 26 year old left Kalmar just over 12 months ago to join Leeds United.
Fotboll Direkt have reported Kalmar are looking to bring in players during this transfer window, and they’ve already tried to get Antonsson back to the club.
The Leeds United player has been linked with a return to his home country in recent months after struggling in his first Championship season, and several Swedish clubs have been taking an interest.
Kalmar may struggle financially to get a deal done for Antonsson, and could be priced out of a move for the attacker. Last year they had to sell the player to Leeds United to balance the books, and bringing the Swede back will be an ambitious move.
Antonsson has also said he doesn’t expect to return to Sweden at this stage of his career, even though his chances at Leeds United will be limited again next season.
