There was a time in the transfer window when we would get near daily updates on Leeds United’s chase for Azzedine Ounahi.
Those reports came from the French and the Italian media, because besides those covering Angers, there was also some attention to Napoli’s interest in the player.
At one point, it was even claimed Leeds offered €25m on the table, and since that was €10m more than the Serie A side, it seemed clear the Whites were leading the race.
That story then went quiet for a while, and it turns out that in a new update from L’Equipe, it’s said Ounahi is close to leaving Angers for under €10m.
The outlet claims there are advanced negotiations for the player to leave for Marseille, and the move now seems ‘imminent’.
Unsurprisingly, L’Equipe doesn’t even mention the offer from Leeds which they reported at the start of the month.
It seems quite unlikely the Whites ever put that much money on the table, and at this stage, it even seems Napoli weren’t that much of a competition either.
