Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessié has reportedly rejected an offer from Wolverhampton Wanderers in order to stay at Milan.

According to Italian website Calcio Mercato, the bid from the Premier League side was quite huge, of €40m plus €20m in bonuses.

The player and the club, however, responded with a ‘no, thanks’, and now work with Milan’s board to agree a new contract before the end of the transfer market.

The website claims that other clubs such as Everton and Atletico Madrid were also interested, and even made enquires to know the situation. But it seems that none of them have a chance.

The player is considered by Milan an important piece of Gennaro Gattuso’s midfield, and both he and the club think he deserves more time there.

Considering that his contract expires and 2022 and they are working to extend it, there are clearly big plans for Kessie with the Rossoneri shirt.

Wolves may be being used here as some PR for both player and Milan.
