What David Moyes will have really wanted to avoid after getting West Ham United to spend €35m on Nayef Aguerd was for the centre-back to get injured.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened when the centre-back played against Rangers in pre-season, and it appears to be a fairly serious one.

That’s according to beIN Sports, who took to Twitter to report that, according to their own information, the West Ham player ‘will miss three months’ of football following the injury sustained in the friendly.

This means the recent reports of David Moyes putting a stop to the deal taking Issa Diop from London Stadium to Fulham make even more sense, as it appears he will be needing an extra body while the Morocco international recovers.

Prior to signing for West Ham, the 26-year-old had made a good name for himself in Ligue 1 with Rennes, for whom he made 79 appearances, scored seven goals and picked up four assists.
