Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz will undergo a medical with Southampton tomorrow after they struck an agreement for the player.

That’s according to journalist César Luis Merlo, who says Southampton have closed a deal for the Argentine midfielder worth €14m plus €1m in bonuses. Racing will also retain a 15% of any future profit on the player.

Alcaraz is set to sign with the Saints until June 2027, after he has completed his medical, which ‘will take place on Tuesday in England’, reports Merlo.

It will bring an end to a short transfer pursuit of the Argentine youngster, who had also been linked with a move to Wolves and Benfica as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez.

It is Southampton who have pushed ahead, though, seeing an initial €10m bid rejected before returning with a higher bid to convince his club to sell.

A report earlier today indicated that they had already struck an agreement with Alcaraz, and his entourage and it seems they have now pushed ahead in negotiations with his club and managed to reach an agreement for a move to happen this month.
