Fotospor have today reported how Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina ended up at Galatasaray, despite being heavily linked with a move to their local rivals Besiktas.
Yesterday there were reports in Turkey that Besiktas had pulled out of a deal for Lemina due to the lack of information they had on the player, and instead brought in Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny.
However, according to Fotospor once the Gabon international was informed about Galatasaray’s interest he only wanted sign for them, even though he was in transfer talks with Besiktas.
It’s claimed Lemina wants to prove himself in the Champions League this season and that’s why he decided to join Gala instead.
Once Lemina knew of the interest from Cim Bom he reportedly told Southampton’s board to stop negotiations with Besiktas and subsequently rejected an offer from the Black Eagles.
This all sounds very much like someone from Galatasaray settling scores after the initial claims of Besiktas rejecting Lemina.
The 26 year old now has the chance to make his full debut on Friday when Galatasaray take on Kasimpasa, with Fulham loanee Jean Michael Seri set to miss the game due to suspension.
