61 Saat’s Trabzonspor reporter Hasan Tuncel claims Sheffield United decided to go for Bournemouth’s Aaron Ramsdale after Trabzonspor refused to drop their asking price for Ugurcan Cakir.

Cakir had been heavily linked with a move to the Blades and previous claims from Turkey suggested the transfer was very close to being completed.

At the time it was reported the English side had made an offer of €15m to sign the 24 year old, but this was rejected by the Super Lig side.

According to Tuncel, Trabzonspor refused to drop their €25m asking price for Cakir, and after that the Premier League side decided to target Ramsdale instead.

The former Sheffield United goalkeeper was Bournemouth’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, and if he agrees personal terms with Sheffield United he will return to Bramall Lane after more than three years away from the club.

At this stage it seems Cakir will be staying at Trabzonspor but there is still interest from other European clubs.
