When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked from Manchester United, there were a lot of questions about who could be his successor.

There was a lot of talk that someone like Mauricio Pochettino could immediately come in, but they instead decided to bring in Ralf Rangnick as an interim, which hasn’t quite gone to plan, as the club were recently knocked out by Atlético Madrid in the Champions League.

This latest failure has put serious doubts in the minds of those in charge of the Old Trafford side, according to AS in Spain, who explain that following the clash against the La Liga side, ‘the leaders of Manchester United consider they have made a mistake by putting the team in the hands of Rangnick’.

The idea was to have him as interim until the end of the season and then move him into a consultancy role, but the Red Devils’ board are now beginning to consider the idea that ‘he will be fired despite having a contract in force’.

It’s not said when this would take place, although we can only assume they will let him see out the season regardless, as there would be no point getting rid of him now.

We’ll have to wait and see about all this, but it appears, at least according to AS, that the Reds Devils are starting to seriously consider their future.
