The Catalan press are getting desperate with Philippe Coutinho, and we’ve got proof.

Sport have published an article on Tuesday which is all about Coutinho sending a ‘wink’ to Barca, and it’s very odd indeed.

‘Philippe Coutinho once again winked at FC Barcelona, this time in an interview for the ‘Soccer AM’ channel.’

The Liverpool player was asked to pick a five-a-side team of footballers he can count as former teammates.

Under a header reading ‘BLAUGRANA WINK’ it’s pointed out Coutinho chose Luis Suarez as one of his merry men.

Reiterating their point, Sport say it’s a ‘nod to the blaugrana’ from Coutinho.

So, to get this right, Catalan newspaper Sport have made an article about Coutinho winking towards Barcelona, all because the Liverpool player included Suarez in a five-a-side team.

It gets better.

Neymar was on the list. Given Neymar’s status at Barcelona right now, especially with the club’s board, picking the PSG player is hardly flirting with the blaugrana, yet such a thought wouldn’t fit with Sport’s plans.

Indeed, with PSG also said to be interested in Coutinho, picking Neymar could quite reasonably be a suggestion of a wink to the French club… if anyone really wanted to look for something which quite clearly isn’t there.

Picking Suarez is a wink to Barca, but picking Neymar isn’t a wink to anyone.

Got it? Right.
