Rejecting a move to Nottingham Forest in the summer, it seems that Alex Moreno will not turn down the chance to move to the Premier League a second time.

This time, it’s Aston Villa and their manager Unai Emery pushing for a deal, and it appears that, according to the latest information from Spain, the player is edging closer to a transfer.

That comes courtesy of ABC Sevilla, who report the player has not travelled with Real Betis to Saudi Arabia in order to ‘close his move to Aston Villa’.

In fact, they go as far as saying that the player has been ‘finalising his departure’ from the La Liga side ‘in the last few hours’, as soon as his move to Aston Villa has been ‘finalised’.

While Betis were pushing for a €20m fee, and Aston Villa initially offered €12m, it’s said that the club ‘expects to close his sale at a price of approximately €17m’.

ABC point out that while Moreno was also in talks to renew, ‘all parties agreed that it may be a good time’ for him to leave and ‘look for new candidates’ for their manager, Manuel Pellegrini.

Meanwhile, Mucho Deporte have their own take, and state the deal is €13.5m up front, with €1.5m in bonuses, taking the whole fee to a potential €15m.

They believe he is now a ‘little closer’ to the Birmingham based club, also reporting that he hasn’t travelled with his team.

Great news for Aston Villa then, who are about to sign a new left-back.
