Back in mid-August, it was reported that Christian Benteke was attracting interest from a couple of clubs in Belgium.
Club Brugge and Antwerp were named by Voetbalkrant, and it appears the former of the two haven’t given up.
That’s according to Walfoot, who reported late on Sunday that Benteke ‘doesn’t have a future’ at Selhurst Park and ‘can leave the club, on loan with view to buy or a full transfer’.
Brugge’s hope here is to pull of a deal similar to the one they did for Simon Mignolet, meaning convincing him by guaranteeing him game time ahead of the 2021 Euros.
Furthermore, the Jupiler Pro League side will also be featuring in the Champions League, which can’t be said about Crystal Palace.
However, there are some differences between the Eagles and Brugge at the moment, with the latter ‘wanting to sign him for €5m’, while the Premier League club ‘are asking for a bit over €8m’.
It’s said the negotiations are ‘making good progress’, but it could all come down to what Benteke wants to do, who previously seemed reluctant to return to his home country to play.
