Aston Villa seem to have made an offer to sign UD Las Palmas goalkeeper Álvaro Valles in the winter market, according to Thursday’s Diario de Sevilla.
The Spaniard has less than 18 months left on his deal and earlier this week, Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez hinted that the 26-year-old wants to continue his career elsewhere.
Miguel Ángel Ramírez had also stated that he had rejected a €20m bid from an English club in January. He didn’t reveal the name of the club and the newspaper now states this offer looks like it came from Aston Villa.
It’s further claimed the Villans offer wasn’t €20m, but €10m, and it was proposed on the last day of the window.
The La Liga side turned it down and demanded double that amount to him go.
They didn’t have enough time to bring in a replacement for Valles, and that’s another reason why Aston Villa’s offer was rejected.
On Wednesday, we covered claims from the Spanish press that Unai Emery’s side, Arsenal and Real Betis have all set their sights on signing Valles in the summer.
The goalkeeper has kept seven clean sheets and conceded 31 goals from 28 games this season.
