Atlético Madrid’s Saúl Ñíguez has been repeatedly linked with Manchester United in recent years, without there ever seeming anything concrete.

The situation with the midfielder is apparently different this summer as he’s reportedly looking for a way out of the Wanda Metropolitano.

It’s no surprise the Red Devils are included in the suitors list because of the uncertainty around Paul Pogba’s future.

The Frenchman has entered his final year of contract at Old Trafford and Paris Saint-German are believed to be keen on securing his signature.

Recent reports in the English press stated Saúl’s representatives are expected to jet into England to hold transfer talks with Manchester United.

Claims made in England have reached Spain and AS explain sources close to the Spaniard have ‘denied’ his agents are travelling to the UK.

The outlet further explains United or any other Premier League side have not made a move yet and haven’t ‘taken a firm step’ to sign the Spaniard.

Atlético and Barcelona were willing to do a deal involving Saúl and Antoine Griezmann, and although the negotiations are on ‘hold’, AS state ‘there is optimism the operation will come to fruition’.

The negotiations are expected to be reactivated in the coming days, once Barca resolve Lionel Messi’s contract situation and have also offloaded a few of their fringe players.
