The links between Nottingham Forest and Jorge Sampaoli had been a strong rumour in the Brazilian media this week.
It had first been said the Reds made contact for the manager, and then reported that the coach had turned down the chance of taking charge of the Tricky Trees.
However, as Torcedores now features an update on Sampaoli’s situation, the attempt from Nottingham Forest is partially denied.
It’s claimed that despite the recent news, the coach’s lawyer Fernando Beredes was ‘not contacted’ by the English side.
The representative was actually sought by Flamengo, who opened talks and are keen on having him as their new manager.
The Brazilian side have many clubs on the table, and as pointed out by us this week, there was a possible scenario where Nottingham Forest could be used as a way to hurry the Rio de Janeiro club to move for Sampaoli.
The local media had also claimed that the Tricky Trees were about to sack Steve Cooper from the job, and that hasn’t happened so far, which is another reason to doubt the previous claims.
