Newcastle United’s pursuit of AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali now gets an update from Italian outlet Sport Mediaset.
Following the initial reports saying the Magpies are putting on the table between €60m and €65m for the signing, it’s now said they may have raised those numbers a little.
According to Sport Mediaset’s latest info, Newcastle have gone ‘as high as’ €70m to get the transfer done.
It’s said Milan’s management have ‘set off the white smoke’, and it’s now up to the player to accept the move.
That doesn’t seem like it would be too much of an issue, because with the claims saying Newcastle are offering him €7m a year, Sport Mediaset comments that he is ‘obviously’ thinking about it.
Tonali may be a diehard Milan fan, but his salary with the Rossoneri is of only €2.5m following a recent raise. So that’s quite a big difference for him, and will likely be extremely tempting.
Since Newcastle’s offer now seems to have been even bigger, it’s getting difficult to find a reason why this deal would not go through in the coming days, especially if Milan have indeed given the go ahead.
